Frequently Asked Questions

What if I've never run before?

Not a problem! LFS Run Coaching works with absolute beginners who have never run a step in their lives (or never run since high school!) right through to experienced runners who want to improve. We meet you where you are to get you to where you want to be!

What if I don't want to run a race?

Great! We can create you a plan that takes you to a race or takes you to a non-race goal, like a new distance or better time. The only difference is that if you don't have to race we can work with you to pick the optimum date for you to go for your goal!

Do you work with athletes around the world?

Yes, we currently work with people as local as the same town and as far-flung as the other side of the planet. All your training is communicated with you via Training Peaks or over Zoom, so everything is done online. We may occasionally ask you to submit a form video, but other than that it's all online.

Can I do your training alongside strength training?

Yes, and in fact this is recommended. There are infinite studies out there to show the importance of regular weight training for runners, particularly long distance runners. We recommend Don Saladino as a strength training coach and have been working with him for the past two and a half years. Whatever level of strength training you do or want to try, we'll work with you to incorporate your run training alongside it.

Do you have a downloadable program for 5/10/21k?

We have two 5k programs; one for beginners and one for anyone wanting to improve their times. Beyond that, we'd recommend that you get in touch for something more custom. The advantage of individualised training is that it can meet you exactly where you are and adapt as you improve; downloadable programs lack this. We always recommend you work with a coach (us or someone else!).
